ArianeGroup integrating nebumind software

07/04/2020

ArianeGroup chooses nebumind’s software to generate “digital product twins” during their metal 3D printing process in order to analyse and improve the quality of their printed components.

ArianeGroup is one of the biggest adopter of additive manufacturing technologies. Together with the 3D printing machine supplier, EOS GmbH, ArianeGroup could for example reduce the production of the injector head of a rocket engine of a future upper stage propulsion module from 248 elements down to just one component. The injector head was simplified and reduced to what is literally an all-in-one design (EOS GmbH, Future Ariane propulsion module simplified by additive manufacturing).

The overall objective of ArianeGroup is to reduce lead times and unit costs further in order to make 3D printing an integral part in their production.

The nebumind software supports ArianeGroup to understand critical process parameters, keep the 3D printing process stable and reduce scrap. The visualisation of process and machine data, such as the temperature measured and recorded during the manufacture of a specific component, helps ArianeGroup to identify critical quality drivers quickly, to monitor them and to build reference models for future manufacturing.

Short Profiles

ArianeGroup formerly known as Airbus Safran Launchers – a joint venture by the European aerospace company Airbus Group and the French group Safran – is responsible for the development and production of the new European launch vehicle, Ariane 6.

EOS GmbH is a global technology and quality leader for high-end solutions in the field of additive manufacturing (3D printing). As a producer of systems for the additive manufacturing of components in metal and polymers, EOS enables the production of high-quality products based on industrial 3D printing technologies.
